Episode 016: Will TikTok Be Banned in Australia?

Is the clock ticking on TikTok Australia?

Clem and Kryshla chew the ‘phat’ on the current situation in the US regarding TikTok. With the Senate poised to pass a bill that enables them to restrict or ban the platform - and other technologies that pose a risk to national security - what does this mean for Australia?

Will US policy trickle down to our sandy shores?

And are other Chinese apps such as WeChat and Weibo also on the chopping block?

According to The Guardian, Democratic senator Mark Warner stated that the proposed bill would also apply to foreign technologies from China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and Cuba.

Closer to home "The Government is not currently considering a ban on TikTok," Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Cyber Security, Clare O'Neil told 7.30 last week - ABC News.

But with 25 government departments and agencies banning the app, is it simply a matter of time before #ForYou become #Farewell??
